Day Three-In With The New

Today everything is just plain different.  Nothing will ever be the same.

As I drove in this morning at 2:00 AM,  I noticed a glow in the sky.  Now remember, this was at 2:00 AM in West Central Georgia in a very quiet rural community and I was a mile and a half from the build site yet the sky was lit up like a vibrant downtown skyline .  It was so awe inspiring, I stopped the truck, turned off my lights and took a picture of the sky-as a reminder that something Extreme was taking place, a true Makeover was in the works.  And while that might seem like an attempt at being clever with words, it's not.....an Extreme Makeover has begun and things are different .

At 2:00 pm yesterday, Dan and I stood on the side of the Williams' property and gave you a review of day two.  We did today's review from the same spot - and trust me, it's not the same spot.  Nothing is the same.   Note the contrast.  Note how different everything is.  When Extreme Makeover: Home Edition shows up to change lives, nothing is ever the same.  I'm not.  Dan's not.  And that spot is definitely not. Everything at the William's property is different this week-starting with the people-and nothing will ever be the same.

One such person whose life has changed perhaps more than anyone else at the build site is a man who didn't have a specific skillset related to construction but he insisted on being able to do some work on the interior of the house as a non-paid volunteer. We all sortof feel that way but Robert was different.  You see, Robert Williams is Jeremy Williams' brother.  That's what this show does to you, it just makes you want to help make a difference. As the brother of Jeremy Williams, Robert could come back next week and lend a hand (and enjoy the new home with his brother and his family) and he probably will, BUT he insisted on being a part of this difference making event.  He rode the volunteer shuttle, he waited in line to get assignments and did everything else the other volunteers did.-including asking us to be able to return to do more.  He does it because he cares about his brother and his family obviously-but I am absolutely blown away at how many other people feel that same desire and may have never met the Williams family.  Things are different.

The old house had a crumbling foundation.  I just saw the new foundation get installed and it's different, it's incredibly sturdy. The old house was too small, you can now see the footprint of the new home and it's different, it's huge. The mailman came thru and said the neighborhood feels different.  I have only "lived" in this neighborhood for three days but let me tell you, it won't ever be the same.
