Daily e-Update

Well, we're getting close.  We don't know where or for whom yet but we know it's almost time to deliver a house.  There's still a million details to coordinate, like setting up the volunteer tents, coordinating the meals and shuttling volunteers to and from the build site once we know where it is. But where we are different than any other episode of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is that we always build a house in a day.  Yes that's right, the house is on the way to Georgia. 

So What Next?
If you have been assigned a volunteer spot on the build site, you have been emailed individually about your time and day.  If you have not been assigned a spot, stay tuned.  As of now, all the spots have been filled.  Again, regretfully, we have more volunteers signed up than we have spaces to fill.  There is still a chance of some more spots opening up and before I tell you how to get an assignment, let me tell you how NOT to get one :)  Emailing us and asking us to give you a spot won't work.  Poor Dan Goodin, our lead coordinator for both Nationwide and Palm Harbor Homes has been receiving hundreds of emails per hour-while also coordinating every single detail for the entire project.  So the way to NOT get an assignment is to email asking for one :)

Now for the right way to get a volunteer spot if you have not been chosen yet. On Saturday, we will have one last round of assignments and we will send out the last round of emails. We will announce where the volunteer headquarters is set up.  We will have a mobile unit set up where you can show up to see if we have any no shows.  On Sunday we will announce in this daily newsletter where the mobile unit will be set up. Until then, we know how hard it is to wait but we have no more slots to fill as of right now.

What if you do not get assigned a volunteer spot?
on Sunday we will announce in this same newsletter where volunteers can go to a remote site to get involved.  Again, please wait until we announce next steps via email and text messages. If you want to sign up for text message alerts,  text the word extreme to 313131 - which will sign you up for text alerts sent to your cell phone.
